This video introduces urban flooding in Malaysian cities, shows the negative impacts of the flood on people’s lives and properties, and unfolds the coping capacity of residents and local authorities. This video has captured four flood resilience weaknesses in the affected towns. First, the residents dealt with flooding individually, without collaborating with their neighbors. The local authorities had limited capabilities to warn and rescue flood affected residents. The municipal zoning map does not show flood risk areas in town. The authorities did not involve local residents in flood disaster risk reduction and management.
